Crete

We had a leisurely start to our day and spent the morning checking out a few more sights on Rhodes Island. We took a hop on hop off double decker open bus to look around the outer part of the walled city of Rhodes. This took an hour and by then it was time to check out of our hotel at noon in time for our transfer to the airport.
We flew out of Rhodes at 2pm and 40 min later we had landed in Heraklion on Crete. Strong winds caused a few anxious moments as we were climbing.
Being a Sunday meant that we couldn't pick up our rental car until the following day so we have 1 night here.
We were transferred to the Atrion Hotel where we found our rooms and settled the nerves over a whiskey. Then it was time to check out the city centre so we took a walk around the little streets where people sat socialising drinking tea & coffee at 7pm ~ not what you would see in NZ at that time of day. We stopped and had some yum Greek food then eventually found our hotel again.
